Page 1 of 2 - Quest won't start - posted in Oblivion Technical Support: I've got a strange problem, and since I have no idea how to access the inner workings of the game, I need some help. I'm trying to do the thief's guild quests, and I'm on (I believe) the final quest, but. It won't start. I've got over 30,000 gold fenced (it says it needs 3,000) to start.

Does anyone else think the Skyrim thieves guild was really painfully mediocre.I dunno Skyrims didn't feel as good from a plot nor gameplay perspective. In skyrim they are like the mafia not thieves you do a lot of dungeon diving but pull off no major heists. In oblivion you have the Gray Fox who is one of the elder scrolls best characters no doubt (and one i hope will return for tes6). At the end is one of tes's best quests ever where you actually have to successfully sneak into somewhere and steal something.I like what they added to Skyrims thieves guild (nightingales, thief symbols and collectibles in each quest) but they also took away what made Oblivion's so great.

Skyrim Thieves Guild is awful. The plot is riddled with holes and inconsistencies and makes absolutely no sense at all. The quest line is dungeon crawl after dungeon crawl with basically no stealing at all, and most the stealth dies out after Golden Glow.

The Nightingale stuff is really silly and doesn't make much sense in terms of implementation. It's just a complete and total disaster in every single wayHonestly, I despised the silly Robin Hood stuff for Oblivion's Thieves Guild too. But the quests themselves were extremely fun and actually involved stealing, which more than made up for that stupidity. It's definitely stronger than any of Skyrim's guilds and all the non-DB Oblivion ones. And honestly, it beats out Morrowind's Thieves Guild too (outside of writing which had less holes but was still stupid due to the aforementioned Robin Hood BS). The backstory and curse stuff are decent, though I don't recall loving either. That said, I'm doing a replay now so it's definitely possible I'll like it more this time around. The Robin Hood stuff isn't totally Guild ruining, but it just feels like such a forced attempt at being lighter and softer (which is a problem that ran rampant in other parts of Oblivion) and doesn't feel natural with the lore at all, which bugs me a lot.One thing I really don't love about Oblivion's TG also is throwing out the blood price with the Gray Fox quests.

Guild

I think it would've been more interesting to still have to try and get through those dungeons without killing the people.
