LEGENDARY WEAPONS AND ARMOR EFFECTS As the name implies, in Fallout 4, you can often find Legendary gear- this is far beyond regular gear. Legendary gear is usually more powerful, has better passive effects, and more devastating abilities. Legendary gear can usually be found by taking on Legendary enemies in the wasteland. Playing through Fallout 4 you’ll come up against Legendary Enemies that are a lot tougher to kill than the usual Raider, Bloatfly or Super Mutant. But take them down and you’ll be rewarded with a Legendary Weapon complete with a devastating effect. These encounters and weapons are random, but almost always cough up a nice little treat to make your character that bit tougher.
All 'Irradiated' legendary weapons deal radiation poisoning in addition to their normal damage.Radiation poisoning (from ) functions exactly like environmental radiation: each 1 point of radiation poisoning reduces max health by.1% (so 50 points of rad poisoning reduces max health by 5%). This gets reflected as actual damage, even if a character is at full health.
Moreover, since this directly affects maximum health, this is damage that can't be healed: even legendary enemy mutations or the 'resethealth' console command will restore health only up to any limits from radiation poisoning.
