Hey!I just snatched this baby up from an auction in Japan. This is a 'Begining of the new tradition' (headstock/neck plate) with serial 122065.Now, I don't know much about these. Does anyone know anything about the Bacchus teles? I basically took a chance and snatched this up in an auction for 35.500 yen (about 314 USD). I really don't like buying stuff without trying it, but at least I am not losing a lot of money if this turns up a dog.According to seller it is a 'confirmed operation' (gotta love google translate), there are frets left, neck is straight and no major cosmetic damage. It is original. He says it is a BTL model, but he doesn't say which one.
2002 Bacchus by Headway Stratocaster '62 Reissue, sonic blue. Made in Japan by Headway, serial number 122051. This guitar appears to be all original, it's the BST-62 model with lacquer finish and select lightweight alder body. Weighs a hair under 3.5kg. A small shop in Switzerland selling vintage and used electric. Bacchus is one of those MIJ lines like Tokai who cross the line on clone models but don't care. And that's why you don't be seeing no US dealers for these lines unless they're in the back of a barber shop. This Bacchus listing is a nice used model in the Seattle area- illegal immigrant! The BST62V is a very very faithful 62 Fender Strat. BACCHUS BST-SRV Relic E.Guitar Vintage Series - $886.00. This has small scratch marks or paint peeling and dent, but not obtrusive much, Nice condition. There is no problem with the playing. This has scratch marks blowing on the body side, painting cracks near the joint plate, other fine scratch marks, dacon.
I don't know anything about these different models. Google helped me find another so-called vintage series BTL-64 that looks similar (with similar serial).

So maybe this is a BTL-64 too? Serial seems to be late, but I cannot find any serial look-up service for these guitars anywhere on the internet. I am guessing this side of 2000.What are people on TDPRI´s experience with these Teles? What kind of PU´s does these guitars have?Oh. And I am thinking that I´d switching that pick guard to a white one. Does these screw holes match a standard tele pick guard?Any information will be much appreciated!! A lot of really good quality instruments are being made in Asia, for sure.Recently I tried a Brazilian brand made-in-China-strat (cannot remember the name) when I had some business in Penang, Malaysia. I was simply amazed by the quality, fret work, center-joined body.
It played like butter. A really resonant and nice guitar.Yeah.
Bacchus has been around for some time. They stopped making this so-called 'vintage series' with fender/gibson shaped headstocks back in 2005 as I understand. But I have heard nice things about their recent budget not-made-in-Japan Universe series. They look really nice in the pictures and are incredibly cheap! Never tried one, though.I also just found out the Japanese brand Momose is owned by the same company (Headway/Deviser group) and they make truly gorgeous takes on classic Leo axes. They can be found here in Bangkok - I´ve tried a couple: easily matching Fender quality (and then some) - but they are not cheap instruments.Anyway. Looking forward to receiving my guitar.

Been a while since I owned a Tele as I had the pleasure of 'babysitting' my friends CS Esquire for almost two years. Now it has been months without resting my hand on a tele bridge. Miss that feeling.

Update: To answer my own question - 'yes' the regular Fender 5 hole pickguard fits perfectly (with a little trimming to make the fit around the neck/fretboard a little less tight.(She is now a gorgeous pale tdpri.com-colored blonde with a white 3 ply bra and a chocolate neck).((Gotta say, buying guitars from Japan is kind of a bliss. Props to all the honest 100% integrity sellers over there.
This is my N-th guitar shipped from Japan. Without exception: All of them have been accurately described - that is, they actually arrived in better shape than both pictures/description. I have never ever been ripped off. In the case of this Tele, I almost got in trouble at LakSi customs in BKK as description read '2.hand' but the lady commented: 'this looks new' And I couldn't really argue with that. Not a scratch, polished chrome and lacquer, shiny frets, dead straight neck)).(((Zenmarket.com forwarded it for me. Can recommend this agent!
